On September 2 in Karpacz, the 34th Economic Forum began – the largest and most important conference in Central and Eastern Europe, which for over 30 years has been bringing together political, business, and social leaders from more than 60 countries. During the 34th Economic Forum, the rectors of economic universities, including HM the Rector prof. dr hab. inż. Celina M. Olszak, signed an agreement to establish the KRUE Insight think tank. It will serve as a joint analytical, expert, and advisory platform for universities in the fields of educational and scientific policy, higher education development, economic and digital transformation, as well as relations between academia, business, and society.
The KRUE Insight think tank intends to conduct research and analysis, publish reports and recommendations on topics important from the perspective of economic universities and the socio-economic development of the country and Europe. Its thematic scope includes, among others: models of development for economic universities, financing of science and education, digitalization, AI, Economy 5.0, sustainable development and ESG, international cooperation, and the global visibility of universities in rankings.

“We want our academic community to be not only an educational and research base, but also a partner and an important voice in shaping public policies, economic development, and digital transformation – this is why we are establishing the KRUE Insight think tank. Economic universities have a special role to play here. Through analysis, recommendations, and expert knowledge, we can effectively support decision-making processes at both the national and European level. This is also an opportunity to bring science even closer to practice and to prove that the voice of academia is indispensable for the sustainable development of the economy and society. The establishment of the KRUE Insight is an expression of our shared responsibility for the country’s future,” said HM the Rector prof. dr hab. inż. Celina M. Olszak.
This year’s Economic Forum is held under the theme “Time of Transformation – What Will the Europe of the Future Be Like?” and will host over 6,000 participants from Poland and abroad. More than 500 debates and plenary sessions are planned, across eight thematic tracks (AI Forum, Cybersecurity Forum, Health Protection Forum, Regions Forum, Universities Zone, Economy, International Politics and Security, Society, Sustainable Development) as well as special events and author meetings. The Economic Forum is a space for discussions on security, economic development prospects, contemporary challenges, and ways of overcoming crises. It is also a venue for presenting concrete solutions and innovative ideas.
KRUE Insight is a joint initiative of universities carried out under the auspices of KRUE. The body coordinating the work of the think tank is the Program Council, consisting of representatives of each KRUE university, appointed and dismissed by the rectors. The Program Council elects a chairperson from among its members for a two-year term and may dismiss them before the end of the term. The think tank’s activities are non-profit. The parties have committed themselves to jointly developing projects, sharing knowledge, delegating experts, and supporting the think tank’s initiatives.
