Learning from Masters: prof. Yannis Tsalavoutas | ECOnomics4Climate

In May, 2023, our University hosted Prof. Yannis Tsalavoutas from the University of Glasgow, who is an expert in financial accounting and reporting. Mentoring sessions with the Professor were a great opportunity to benefit from the experience of this expert. The event was carried out within the framework of the "ECOnomics4Climate Learning from Masters: Prof. Yannis Tsalavoutas "Project, which has been co-financed by the Metropolis GZM within the framework of the "Metropolitan Fund for Support of Science" Program for the years 2022-2024.

Transcription

  • 00:16 - Professor Yannis Tsalavoutas from the University of Glasgow is a guest of our University in the project supported by the Metropolitan Science and Education fund.
  • 00:29 - The project is titled "ECOnomics4Climate". In this project, we promote the new discipline of economics of climate change.
  • 00:36 - Professor came to our University to run a series of mentoring sessions with our researchers. During these sessions we study and discuss our research works, to improve their quality and increase a chance of being published in top-quality journals in the field.
  • 00:53 - It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be visiting the University of Economics in Katowice. I am grateful for the funding from the Metropolis (GZM). First of all, it is a very important area but, second, it relates to the research we are doing at the University of Glasgow and, specifically, the Observatory of Corporate Reporting Practices that I am leading. And so, the funding helps not only the transfer of knowledge but also initiating new research projects in collaboration between the two institutions. It has been great to see the University here doing so many activities for internationalization.
  • 1:32 - Prof. Yannis Tsalavoutas prepared a workshop on how to run a structured literature review. The workshop was addressed to our students and PhD candidates of our University.
  • 01:42 - We first discussed the need for a literature review and then we went down to explaining, discussing and sharing ideas on how to conduct structured literature reviews, what people have to think about and how to present their framework.
  • 02:02 - It has been a very, very good experience. I’m looking forward to come back and maintain a good collaboration in the future.
