Efforts are currently underway to develop the campus space and utilize elements of the building facades. We hope that the implementation of these ideas will be possible in the future, after the necessary technical and maintenance work is finished.]
We proudly present a brand new mural on the map of Katowice. This time the piece was created on one of the buildings belonging to the University of Economics in Katowice. The mural symbolizes knowledge, tradition, academic values and modernity. It was designed by a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, who is currently an employee of our University. The mural was created in cooperation with the Hossa Association.
A mural is a large painting made directly on the wall of a building. The artwork was created on the facade of building E (renovated in 2020), which is located at 1 Maja 47 Street. It fits into the Katowice Murals Trail that runs in the vicinity of most of the existing examples of urban street art.
"Despite the pandemic, renovation works on the campus continue. We want to prepare as best as we can for the return of students to the University. We hope it will be possible soon. One of the activities we undertook was the renovation of the University’s buildings, including the facades of the E and L buildings. Additionally, we decided to make a mural as surprise for our students and academic teachers," says Paweł Kadłubiak, Chancellor of the University of Economics in Katowice.
The university seal on the sweatshirt worn by a University student surrounded by books symbolizes the center of science and knowledge, which is the University of Economics in Katowice. There are eighteen books on the mural - it is a reference to the scientific achievements of Karol Adamiecki, an outstanding scientist and long-standing patron of the Academy of Economics in Katowice.
