New unveiling of the University's website

To meet the trends and needs of users, a new version of the university's website was implemented on the threshold of the new academic year 2023/2024. The work to increase the level of digital accessibility of the site was carried out by the university's staff in cooperation with an external contractor as part of the project entitled "UEKat accessible – a program to support the educational process for people with special needs".

First of all, clarity

The biggest visible change to the site is the refreshing of its appearance, increasing clarity and improving navigation.

In addition to a refreshed graphic design, the digital accessibility of the site was improved in accordance with universal design principles. The key was to make access to information as easy as possible for every user, taking into account a broad catalog of specific needs.

Among the solutions applied to speed up the search for information and improve the reception of the site by all users are:

  • the use of Atkinson Hyperlegible Font,
  • visually refreshing individual content elements, as well as increasing the size of headlines, graphic elements and text,
  • improved site navigation through the use of a new type of menu,
  • completing alternative texts, increasing font size,
  • adding a new way of displaying news,
  • implementation of an accessible contact form from home page level,
  • increasing the attractiveness of published content.

A team coordinated by Agnieszka Put, PhD, and consisting of Dariusz Dubiel, Anna Gniady, Marek Kiczka, Patrycja Jaskulska, Adrian Marcinkowski, Dagmara Piskorz, Dariusz Rajfura, Agnieszka Sokołowska-Pikoń, worked on the tasks completed so far within the framework of the "UEKat accessible" project in Area III of the project called "Development of technological facilities for ensuring a minimum level of accessibility". The final implementation work was finalized by employees of the Communications Department.
