Outdoor libraries have been placed in Katowice's city square and by the University of Silesia's rectorate building to promote the European City of Science Katowice 2024. Our University is part of the Academic Consortium Katowice – City of Science 2024, comprising seven universities in total.
The outdoor library structures feature information provided in several languages about the title of the European City of Science Katowice 2024 and walls filled with plants. In their center, numerous books and a bench invites all visitors to take a moment to relax and delve into some reading.
Libraries operate according to the principle of book crossing, where books that have been read are left on the shelf for another person to find, read and then share them again with someone else.
We encourage all residents to actively participate and use the libraries, and to add to the bookshelves their already read books to spread them around.
With small initiatives like this, we can all contribute to building the City of Science together!
