Polish-Ukrainian Integration Festival

Polish-Ukrainian Integration Festival, an event organized by the City of Katowice and "Ligota" community center, took place on June 28-th, 2022 in the former student dormitories of the University of Economics in Katowice. Our University was one of the partners of the event, during which the Song and Dance Ensemble "Silesianie" performed and the Marketing Center prepared fun games and activities for children.

 

Program

The event started at 4:00 p.m. Visitors enjoyed a Ukrainian artistic program prepared by the "Bażantowo" Foundation, followed by a musical family program by the "Animo, anima" group, titled "We Discover the Treasure of the Family Beauty". This was followed by the dance presentations and activities led by a pair of dancers of our University’s Song and Dance Ensemble "Silesianie". The event ended with the "Silesianie" performance.

Attractions

During the event there was an opportunity to enjoy numerous activities, such as: 

  • activities area (games and activities conducted by an event agency entertainers),
  • recreational facilities (slide and inflatable castle – event agency),
  • soap bubbles, face painting, balloon–made figurines, activities promoting movement and other attractions prepared by the partner organizations: "Bażantowo" Foundation, "Nowe Miejsce" ("New Place") Support Project Foundation, "Index do Przysłości" ("Index to the Futture") Foundation, MOST Association, "Dom Aniołów Stróżów" ("House of the Guardian Angels") Children and Youth Aid Association, Hospice Cordis Society, "In Corpore" Foundation,
  • sports zone, prepared by MOSIR Katowice,
  • relaxation zone of the University of Economics in Katowice, combined with an information desk and activities for children,
  • drumming workshops conducted by the Pałac Młodzieży Katowice community center,
  • presentations and attractions prepared by the Katowice Police and Fire Departments.

Traditional food

During the event, visitors could also enjoy traditional Polish and Ukrainian dishes, to name a few:

  • Ukrainian borscht for all participants, and additionally "Pielmieni" for children – dumplings with stuffing prepared by the "Wolne Miejsce" ("Free Space") Foundation,
  • Ukrainian dishes prepared by guests from Ukraine (Reception Point),
  • BBQ dishes – "Czerwona Kalina" ("Red Viburnum") Foundation.
  • a stand with baked goods from the Day Care Center for Intergenerational Integration "Bezpieczna Twierdza" ("Safe Fortress") of the "Index to the Future" Foundation.

Information and promotional stands

Information and promotional stands of the following organizations were also present during the event:

  • Ratujemy+ (Rescue+) Association – preventive medicine and First Aid,
  • Katowice District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station – counseling and promotion of a healthy lifestyle (a competition, possibility of using alcohol and drug impairment simulation goggles, raising awareness of HIV testing, disease prevention and vaccination),
  • IN CORPORE Foundation – consultation stand dealing with family issues and assistance for foreigners,
  • MOPS Katowice Municipal Social Welfare Center – promotional stand,
  • Katowice District Labor Office – information stand.

A public fundraising event No. 2022/2652/OR is also conducted through the "In Corpore" Foundation.
