Recruitment for volunteers for the EUCYS

We are recruiting buddies to support the EUCYS competition finals, which are taking place from September 9 to 14. The deadline for applications is August 18, 2024.

About the competition

EU TalentOn is a competition for European scientists aged 21–35. From September 9–14, 2024, 100 participants from all over Europe will come to Katowice for five intensive days to take part in a "scientific hackathon" for developing creative, innovative solutions to global social, technological, and scientific problems. 

Participants will be divided into 25 teams of four. Each of these teams will be given a volunteer - a buddy. A buddy is a person who supports the participants directly before and during the final of the competition, which will take place from September 9 to 14, 2024.

Buddie’s tasks:

• Support the participants of a given team during their arrival and stay in Katowice;
• providing the most important practical information related to the stay in Katowice;
• assistance in organizing the team's work at spinPLACE (Bankowa 5, Katowice);
• Supporting the team during the final of the competition, including:

1. obtaining the necessary materials for the work,
2. assisting with uploading relevant documents to disk space,
3. arranging meetings with experts;
4. arranging interview times for team members on TalentOn TV;

• organizational assistance during the competition finals.

Who can apply?

• students fluent in English;
• students available on September 6, 2024, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. (training for buddies will be held on this day);
• students available on: September 9–14, 2024;
• students with organizational and communication skills.

Recruitment

Recruitment will take place between July 30 and August 18, 2024, and will be divided into two stages:

Stage 1. (30 July–11 August 2024) application via online form;

Based on the applications, selected applicants will be invited to Stage 2 of the recruitment process.

Stage 2. (12–16 August 2024): online interview in English for those selected in Stage 1.

Remuneration

Buddies are paid a gross salary of £3,000 on an order-contract basis.
