The Robot Week took place from November 11th to 17th, it was the 45th Week in the City of Science - Katowice 2024. Its aim was to demonstrate the applications of robots in various industrial sectors, as well as in service to humans. During this week, two activities took place on the campus of the University of Economics in Katowice, where participants had the opportunity to listen to interesting lectures and see firefighting robots, drones, and rovers.
On November 14th and 15th, the International Conference "RoboServe - Robots in the Service of Man" took place. The conference aimed to showcase cutting-edge robotic solutions across various industries, from manufacturing to healthcare, and support for people with special needs and the elderly.
The second day of the conference was held in the CNTI Auditorium, with dr hab. Jan Kozak, prof. UE, from the Department of Machine Learning at our University, representing our institution.
The conference featured presentations such as:
- "Intelligent Service Robot Driven by Brain-Computer Interface" by dr inż. Tomasz Muszyński from the Military University of Technology and dr Jiannan Chen from Yanshan University (China);
- An expert panel discussion on robots and systems used in the fire service;
- A demonstration of practical medical rescue techniques using virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (XR) technologies.
Following the opening ceremony and the first panel, there was a break for a demonstration of fire department robots.
The event was held under the Honorary Patronage of the Silesian Voivodeship Commander of the State Fire Service.
