On March 18, 2026, students of the International Business program participated in a study visit at the headquarters of Węglokoks Kraj S.A. The event included a meeting with the company’s Management Board, during which students had the opportunity to learn about key strategic challenges and the directions of transformation in the mining and energy sectors.
An important part of the visit was also a tour of the Bobrek Mine, which allowed participants to better understand the specifics of operational activities as well as the scale of challenges related to the transformation of post-industrial areas.
The visit served as an introduction to a research and consulting project carried out by the students, titled: "Strategic Redevelopment of the Bobrek Mine Area into a Regional Rail-Road Logistics and Innovation Hub. A Model for Sustainable Post-Industrial Transformation in Europe."
The project aims to develop a concept for the sustainable redevelopment of former mining areas, incorporating logistics and innovation functions aligned with the transformation of industrial regions in Europe.
The event is an example of a practical approach to education, combining academic knowledge with real economic challenges and cooperation with a business partner.
