On September 11, 2025, Katowice once again became the capital of world science by hosting the 2nd Scientific Conference of the World’s Top Scientists – TOP 2%. This prestigious event, organized by the Mayor of Katowice, dr inż. Marcin Krupa, in cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology, brought together the elite group of researchers whose publications have the greatest global impact.
The TOP 2% Conference gathers scientists ranked among the world’s 2% most influential and most cited researchers. The list is the result of citation-based analyses initiated by researchers from Stanford University, Elsevier, and SciTech Strategies.
The evaluation considers both citations from the previous year and the entire career output. Being included in this ranking confirms the significance of one’s research today and its role in advancing knowledge worldwide.
The meeting was held at the Silesian University of Technology in Katowice under the honorary patronage of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, the Mayor of Katowice, and the Polish Academy of Sciences – Katowice Branch.
Among the distinguished 46 scientists from Silesian universities, one of the plenary speakers was a representative of our University – dr hab. Artur Strzelecki, prof. UE. Professor Strzelecki delivered a lecture during the Plenary Session entitled “How AI-generated content enters prestigious journals?”, addressing a key issue in the context of the dynamic development of technology.
The participation of our professor in this prestigious event strengthens the position of the University of Economics in Katowice in the region and confirms the significant role of our research in the development of world science, especially in fields related to modern technologies and artificial intelligence. The conference also provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences as well as to establish valuable contacts and cooperation.
