On November 28-29, 2023, the 2nd International Academic Conference "Energy justice & energy transition - global, Europe, state" took place in the CNTI auditorium at the University of Economics in Katowice as part of Energy Week in the City of Science. The event was organized by the Department of Energy Transition. Participants included HM the Rector of the University, prof. dr hab. inż. Celina M. Olszak, the Minister of Industry, dr hab. Marzena Czarnecka, prof. UE, Member of the European Parliament dr Borys Budka and numerous distinguished experts from around the world.
About the Conference
Energy justice ensures the success of the energy transition, helps address the global challenge of energy access worldwide, and provides a holistic study of the energy sector. The goal of the conference was to foster an international academic debate on energy transition and energy justice. The discussions covered the legal and economic aspects of the energy sector in Poland, Europe, and globally.
Day One Highlights
The conference began with welcoming remarks by:
- prof. dr hab. inż. Celina M. Olszak, HM the Rector of the University of Economics in Katowice,
- dr hab. Marzena Czarnecka, prof. UE, Minister of Industry,
- dr Marcin Kraśniewski from the Department of Energy Transition,
- Kazimierz Karolczak, Chairman of the Board of the Metropolis GZM

The keynote speech was delivered by Minister of Industry, dr hab. Marzena Czarnecka, prof. UE, titled "Science and Education in the Transformation of Silesia, Energy, and Industry."
Day Two Highlights
The second day began with an address by dr Borys Budka, Member of the European Parliament, who spoke on the neoliberal approach to energy transition and consumer protection.

The event featured numerous distinguished speakers, including:
