Between December 6 and 10, 2021 Katowice hosted the most important digital event of the year – IGF 2021, during which participants from around the world discussed the global future of the Internet. Our University was the event’s partner.
The UN Internet Governance Forum – IGF 2021 was held between December 6 and 10 at the International Congress Centre in Katowice (Plac Sławika i Antalla 1). The theme of the 16th annual IGF meeting was ‘Internet United’, meaning an open, free and undivided Internet where users can enjoy their rights.
The University’s booth was open to visitors throughout the event and our lecturers participated in various panel discussions and meetings. Moreover, on December 6, 2021 the agreement on the establishment of Poland's first interdisciplinary science and research consortium was officially signed. UE Katowice was represented by the Rector Prof. Celina M. Olszak, Ph.D., D.Sc., who signed the agreement on its behalf.
The IGF 2021 was attended by the UN Secretary General António Guterres, Vice-President of the European Commission Margrethe Vestager, ministers of digitization from all over the world, business representatives from different continents, NGO activists and members of the academic community.
