Understanding Green Finance

In the coming days, we will be hosting Prof. Ismail Erturk from the University of Manchester at our University. We invite you to take advantage of this unique opportunity and listen to his lecture titled "What can Dürer's Melencolia tell us about knowledge problem in today's central banking". The meeting will take place on October 29, 2024, in the cinema hall of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, 50 Raciborska Street.

The lecture is open to the entire academic community, including not only students of the University of Economics but also students of the Academy of Fine Arts. The lecture will focus on an interdisciplinary approach to green finance, which Professor Erturk will present based on his collaboration with contemporary Swedish artists. The meeting will conclude with a discussion on joint research. The Professor's presence at the University is one of many activities that will take place as part of the "Understanding Green Finance" project.

The guest's visit will also be an excellent opportunity to involve him in ongoing research at the University. The Professor will participate in a debate on green finance and a just transition, which is part of the InCECC conference taking place at the University of Economics (October 24-25, CNTI) within the discussion panel entitled "CECC Climate Moods – Autumn Debates: Economic challenges of sustainable transition" -  "Autumn Debates"..

The University will also be visited by another guest, Professor Johannes Jager from the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna, a specialist in just transition. His two-day visit (October 22-23, 2024) will focus mainly on consultations and editorial work within the framework of the "Green Energy Markets and Finance" project conducted at the University. During his second visit in November, Professor Jager will be available to a wider audience (details to follow).

The visits of both professors are carried out within the framework of the "Understanding Green Finance" project, which was co-financed by the The Metropolis GZM under the "Metropolitan Science and Education Support Fund" program in 2022-2024.

Detailed information about the project is available on the website.
