HM the Rector, together with the Senate of the University of Economics in Katowice, cordially invite you to the official celebration of the University Day, which will take place on 12 January 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the dr Józef Lisak Auditorium (Building A, ul. Bogucicka 3).
In accordance with tradition, the University of Economics in Katowice celebrates its University Day in January, commemorating the anniversary of the inaugural lecture that marked the beginning of the University’s activity. On this occasion, the entire academic community gathers to celebrate this important event.
The program of this year’s ceremony includes:
- an address by HM the Rector prof. dr hab. inż. Celina M. Olszak;
- the conferral of the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Economics in Katowice upon dr Henryka Bochniarz;
- doctoral and habilitation promotions;
- the conferral of the title of Honorary Professor of the University;
- the presentation of grants to outstanding young research and teaching staff;
- the presentation of distinctions within the Outstanding Alumni of the University of Economics in Katowice competition.
At 3:00 p.m., the unveiling of the Doctor Honoris Causa commemorative plaque will take place in the Avenue of Oaks.
The event will also be enhanced by a performance of the Choir of the University of Economics in Katowice.
