Writefull - a new academic writing support tool for the entire UE Katowice community

Writefull is an advanced AI-powered tool designed specifically for writing academic texts in English. It improves grammar, style, vocabulary and punctuation, and identifies missing citations - all based on millions of Open Access scientific articles.

How to get started?

1. Install the add-on (available for download on the website).
2. Create an account using your @uekat.pl or @edu.uekat.pl email address.

Writefull was created specifically for researchers and university students to support the editing of academic texts in English. Its suggestions are based on how words and structures are used in real academic publications, depending on context — not on a fixed set of grammatical rules. Unlike other tools, Writefull uses AI-based language models and continuously “learns” from millions of scientific journal articles. It improves grammar, punctuation, spelling and writing style. Going far beyond standard grammar checkers, it proposes sentence-level improvements in academic writing, indicates missing citation elements and suggests discipline-specific vocabulary, which is particularly valuable when preparing articles for international journals.

The purchase of the subscription was made possible through the project "KOMPAS -Competences for Supporting International Staff and Students", funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the "Welcome to Poland (2024)" programme.
The total project value is PLN 402,888.16.
