UE Katowice on the Jubilee European Economic Congress
Over 11,000 participants took part in this year's jubilee edition of The European Economic Congress - one of the largest economic events in Europe. Among the distinguished congress panelists like representatives of the world of business, politics, science and the media, there were also experts from the University of Economics in Katowice. Our university was the Institutional Partner of the Congress.
The 10th edition of the European Economic Congress in Katowice took place between 14-16 May in Spodek and the International Congress Center in Katowice. The wide and diverse thematic scope included several main trends, which gave more than one hundred debates, sessions, meetings and other events with the participation of 900 speakers discussing about the key economic and social problems of Europe in their global context.
Among the distinguished figures, the guests of the Congress included: The President of the Council of Ministers Mateusz Morawiecki, representatives of the European Commission: Cecilia Malmström, Miguel Arias Cañete, Andrus Ansip, Dominique Ristori, prime ministers: Herman Van Rompuy (Belgium 2008-2009), Iveta Radičová (Slovakia 2010-2012), Jorgos Papandreou (Greece 2009-2011), Alexander Stubb (Finland 2014-2015), Stepan Kubiv (Ukraine), and Justina Mutale - Woman of the Year 2016, and Justin Yifu Lin, former chief economist and senior vice president of the World Bank.
During the discussion panels in the Congress, the experts of the University of Economics in Katowice also actively participated:

The areas of congressional discussions were connected with such key words as: growth prospects and competitiveness, technological revolution with its current and future effects, responsibility and environment or economic cooperation within the free market.
The event accompanying the Congress was European Start-up Days - the first such a big event combining start-ups and corporations and business support organizations. The aim of the event is to integrate the environment of young entrepreneurs with experts, presidents of large companies, investors and successful businessmen who are present at the European Economic Congress in Katowice.
During the European Economic Congress, one could also visit our stand at the International Congress Center, where an educational offer was presented, including extramural and post-diploma studies.
