About the Faculty

The Faculty of Economics was established pursuant to the Statute of the University of Economics in Katowice dated 24 June 2021, replacing the College of Economics, which operated from 1 October 2019 to 31 August 2021. The Faculty continues the more than fifty-year tradition of the Faculty of Economics, which had operated under this name since 1992 and originated from the Faculty of Trade, Transport and Services (1975), itself established through the transformation of the Faculty of Trade and Food Economics, founded in 1968. In 2018, the Faculty of Economics celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The Faculty’s activities focus on research and publication, as well as providing substantive support for selected degree programmes and the Doctoral School. Research is conducted in the academic disciplines of economics and finance, and management and quality sciences. The Faculty comprises 14 departments, bringing together approximately 110 employees.
