BAUHAUS4EU Alliance Newsletter No. 3

European Commission Names BAUHAUS4EU as Best Practice Example

The first year of the European University Alliance BAUHAUS4EU (B4EU) concludes with a significant honour: the European Commission recognised the project as a successful model for regional transformation in an official publication.

It states that the Alliance is promoting sustainable regional development in line with the New European Bauhaus Initiative through transdisciplinary curricula, regional living labs, and the sustainable development of the campuses of its ten partner universities, among other things. Four Winners for the 1st B4EU Photo Contest

All four winning visual stories, in their unique ways, explore the sense of belonging as created not by buildings or schedules alone, but by the ways people share space, support each other, work behind the scenes, and build meaning together.

The topic of the contest “Inclusive Grounds: Stories of Belonging and Resilience” proved to be challenging. We received deeply moving perspectives of university life, full of energy, courage, contemplation, humour and determination.

Looking Back at the First BAUHAUS4EU Year

2025 was the year of beginnings, getting-to-knows, launches, and kick-offs. But we did not just start – we progressed!

We reached milestones, delivered results, surveys, reports, and created first offers. And to top it off: we organised as well as attended a considerable amount of workshops, conferences, and other events. From the get-go, the spirit of the BAUHAUS4EU Alliance felt very alive.

First Meeting of the UEKat BAUHAUS4EU Regional Council

On 3 December 2025, the first meeting of the BAUHAUS4EU Regional Council at the University of Economics in Katowice took place, bringing together representatives of local government, business, socioeconomic institutions, as well as students, academic staff, and administrative staff.

The event was held in a very positive atmosphere, and the strong engagement of partners demonstrated significant potential for joint actions. The insights collected will support further planning of initiatives, including defining topics for future European BAUHAUS Courses and activities carried out within Regional Living Labs. BAUHAUS4EU Presidents Hold First Meeting with the Alliance Advisory Council

The European University Alliance BAUHAUS4EU officially introduced the members of its Advisory Council during the first joint online meeting with the Presidents’ Council, held on 5 December.

The Advisory Council acts as an independent body providing high-level guidance and expert input to support strategic reflection and the long-term development of the BAUHAUS4EU Alliance. While the Council has no decision-making or legal responsibilities and its recommendations are non-binding, its perspectives are highly valued and contribute significantly to shaping the Alliance’s vision and direction.
