From 6 to 9 July 2026, the University of Economics in Katowice is hosting the participants of the first Hackathon in the history of the BAUHAUS4EU Alliance. The event brings together representatives of five partner universities, with its main participants being 20 doctoral students working in international and interdisciplinary teams, together with their mentors.
The BAUHAUS4EU PhD Hackathon is a four-day event dedicated to the creative solving of research challenges and the development of innovative ideas. Participants work on challenges of their own choosing, combining diverse perspectives, experiences, and research areas.
The Hackathon serves as a creative incubator where young researchers can develop competencies in teamwork, intercultural communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the practical application of knowledge. It also provides a space for testing new research approaches aligned with the objectives of sustainable development and digital transformation.
The event forms part of the BAUHAUS4EU Alliance's activities aimed at strengthening cooperation among partner universities, developing modern methods of doctoral education, and creating engaging forms of academic collaboration. It is also of particular importance in building relationships among young researchers and supporting their involvement in the co-creation of international academic initiatives.
The Hackathon will conclude with presentations of the teams' work, evaluation by a panel of experts, and the selection of the best solution.
The event is part of the project "UEKat in BAUHAUS4EU - Developing the University's Potential for the European University for Sustainable, Prosperous and Inclusive Regions", financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange under the "Support for European Universities" programme. The total value of the project amounts to PLN 967,602.00.
