Active Participation (Abstracts and Papers)

Who Can Participate?
The Conference is designed for the next generation of researchers, in particular:
- university students,
- doctoral candidates,
- early-career researchers.
It provides participants with an opportunity to gain international academic experience, present and discuss their research, develop their academic writing and presentation skills, and establish connections with researchers from different countries.
Abstract Submission
An abstract constitutes an essential part of the application for active participation in the Conference.
The abstract must be 300–400 words and should include:
- formulation of the research problem, thesis and purpose of the paper,
- reference to the main topic of the Conference,
- indication of the contribution to the Conference agenda,
- description of the applied research methodology.
A basic list of references must be attached to the abstract.
Abstracts that do not meet these formal requirements will not be subject to substantive evaluation.
Language
Abstracts and papers must be submitted in English only.
Double-Blind Peer Review
Participation in the Conference is based on a competitive academic selection process.
Each submitted abstract will undergo a double-blind peer-review process. The Presidium of the Programme Council will appoint two reviewers from among the Members of the Programme Council to evaluate each abstract.
Reviews will be provided in written form and will conclude with a decision to accept or reject the abstract.
The Presidium of the Programme Council will be responsible for the entire evaluation procedure, including:
- anonymisation of submissions,
- assignment of individual submission codes,
- formal assessment,
- distribution of abstracts to reviewers,
- collection of reviews,
- notification of authors regarding the final evaluation results.
Only positively evaluated submissions will be accepted for presentation at the Conference.
Publication Opportunities
Participation in the Conference also provides an opportunity to develop and disseminate your research internationally.
The organisers plan to publish a Book of Summaries before the Conference, presenting the research contributions accepted through the peer-review process.
In addition, selected participants will be invited to develop their conference papers into full book chapters for a planned international volume devoted to Just Transitions, edited by Marcin Kraśniewski and Alicia Phillips and proposed for publication with Palgrave Macmillan.
This creates a pathway from presenting an initial research idea at the Young International Academic Conference to developing it into a contribution to an international academic publication.
