Programme Assumptions

The energy transition is one of the defining challenges of our time, affecting the environment, economies and societies worldwide. Its success will depend not only on technological development and investment, but also on the establishment of appropriate legal and regulatory frameworks, international cooperation, social acceptance and the fair distribution of the costs and benefits of transformation.

Against this background, an important question arises: how is the energy transition perceived by the younger generation of researchers who are beginning their academic and professional careers? What ideas can they contribute to the debate on a just transition? How do they understand the role of law, economics, international trade, investment and innovation in shaping the future of energy systems?

The Young International Academic Conference provides an international academic platform for students, doctoral candidates and early-career researchers interested in exploring these questions. The Conference particularly encourages fresh perspectives, innovative approaches and interdisciplinary research capable of contributing to the contemporary debate on energy transition and energy justice.

The Conference adopts an international, interdisciplinary and comparative approach to the energy transition. Particular attention will be given to the relationship between energy justice, international trade and investment, energy security, sustainable development and the regulatory frameworks governing the transition towards low-carbon economies.

The programme is based on the assumption that the energy transition cannot be considered solely from a technological or environmental perspective. It is increasingly shaped by international economic relations, investment flows, geopolitical developments, access to critical raw materials, energy security considerations and the need to reconcile economic development with climate and social objectives.

The Conference therefore aims to provide a forum in which law, economics, international trade, investment and energy policy intersect, allowing participants to examine the energy transition from different disciplinary and geographical perspectives.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the position of developing and emerging economies, cross-border cooperation, international investment and the role of international and European legal frameworks in facilitating a just and sustainable transition.
