Kim Fam

Professor Fam has experience as an author, editor, contributor, and lecturer. He was Professor in International Marketing for more than 11 years and as Head of School for 4 years at Victoria University of Wellington, NZ. During my 24 years as a university lecturer (1996-2020), he had published 110 refereed journal publications, co-authored 5 books, coined the concept “Chopsticks Marketing” (see Dictionary of Marketing by Penguin), and guest edited 5 special issues under the “Chopsticks/Confucian Marketing theme”. He was the Founding Editor of the Asian Journal of Business Research (SCOPUS), Founding Editor of the Journal of Halal Service Research, Founding Director of the Marketing in Asia Group ( For services to education, he was made a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (2008), bestowed an honorary doctorate by Szechenyi Istvan University (2012), bestowed the prestigious Jilin Provincial Government Scholarship (Changbaishan Scholar 2017-19), and bestowed the Darjah Seri Melaka (Exalted Order of Malacca, 2019) state award by the Governor of Malacca, Malaysia. As a token of appreciation, a thoroughbred horse was gifted to him (2019) by a mentee in Mongolia, and in late 2020 and mid 2021, he was conferred the honorary title Professor Emeritus by the Romanian-American University and Harbin University of Commerce respectively.
