November and December are marked in our calendars as very special times for us all, full of magical moments, contemplation, warmth and joy. It is no wonder then that during these months there was just as much going on in our Welcome Point, where we celebrated numerous holidays and events, bringing everyone together, regardless of background or culture. Welcome Point is not only the place where students and international staff alike can receive practical information and administrative support, but more importantly – it is the community that cares about each other's well-being.
And so, over the past few weeks, we have organized a series of events to introduce students to Polish holiday traditions (but not only!), such as:
-
Andrzejki – A Truly Prophetic Meeting, where, together with our students, we tried to peek into the future, divining from cards or pouring wax. It was not only an opportunity to learn about Polish beliefs and customs associated with this tradition, but also a great time to have fun among our international community.
-
Santa Claus – Time for Gifts! Another memorable event was the celebration of St. Nicholas Day. Students received small gifts from Santa Claus, and the atmosphere full of smiles and joy over a cup of warm tea made these moments forever memorable.
-
Christmas Meeting – Celebrating Together. One more fantastic meeting before Christmas evening, where we were able to share some Polish traditions and customs in our community. This unique event allowed students to better understand cultural diversity while enjoying the music and dances performed by our fantastic Song and Dance Ensemble "Silesianie."
Of course, we did not forget about popular holidays from beyond the sea either! By organizing the event to celebrate Halloween – Meeting in the Spirit of Fun, we not only provided our students with the opportunity to experience and share this colorful and creative tradition but also to learn more about the Polish holiday of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.
We would like to thank all the students for their enthusiastic participation, and for working with us to create this unique international community at our University. May these memories stay with us forever, making future events equally full of joy and integration!
