Integration Week for international students, held from September 24 to 30, 2025, proved to be a great success. As is our tradition, the initiative aimed to familiarize newly admitted students with the University and the city, and to help them take their first steps in Poland.
The first two days of the event were devoted to the official welcome, attended by a large group of representatives of our University authorities. The guests were welcomed by the Vice-Rector for Teaching and International Relations, Prof. dr hab. Wojciech Dyduch. Representatives of the Student Services and other key academic units, including the International Relations Office and the Internationalization Office, also spoke.
The Integration Week program featured a range of activities designed to promote and support integration. Participants had the opportunity to participate in Polish language workshops and enjoy numerous attractions and trips around the region. The students visited the essential sites in the capital of Upper Silesia, such as the Silesian Museum, the historic Nikiszowiec district, and the Silesian Planetarium.
Global Village – Presentation of World Cultures
The cultural highlight of Integration Week was an event called Global Village, which took place on September 26 at the BaseCamp dormitory. Students from different countries had the chance to showcase their national traditions and often colorful dishes.
Support and Organizational Cooperation
This year's Integration Week was attended by over 200 people representing nearly 40 countries. Among the participants were new students beginning their undergraduate and graduate education, as well as people participating in the Erasmus+ program as part of international exchanges.
The successful implementation of Integration Week was the result of cooperation between the International Relations Office and the Welcome Point team, which is part of the Internationalization Office. The involvement of students participating in the "Uni Buddy" program was crucial to the event. These students, both Polish and foreign, act as mentors, actively offering support to our newcomers.
