Path and campus plan

Along the path, visitors come across the educational boards, correspondingwith particular species, which present botanical descriptions and graphic representations of their biology and morphology. The coniferous trees areadditionally portrayed in the relevant Faculty's nomenclature. Visitors canalso read about the conversion of tree stands and the roles performed byforests, including their economic aspects.In order to emphasise the ecological character of the project and underlinethe need to use renewable energy on a larger scale, the boards are illuminatedwith solar-power LED lights.

The UniEKO project is an expression of social responsibility, an importantaspect of the mission of the University of Economics in Katowice, which hasalways been involved in the issues important for the economy, country andregion.The UniEKO path and the Alley of Polish Trees, opened near the premisesof the University of Silesia and the Scientific Information Centre and AcademicLibrary in 2014, together offer a place of rest, but also a summary ofknowledge of Poland's native tree species.The UniEKO project was co-funded by the Provincial Fund for EnvironmentalProtection and Water Management in Katowice and backed by thepartners, with the administrative support of the City Hall and the contributionof the employees of the University of Economics in Katowice.
