Rules and Regulations of the "I feel good @Katowice" photo contest
General provisions
1
- The Rules and Regulations of the "I feel good @ Katowice" photography contest (hereinafter referred to as the "Rules and Regulations") define the terms and conditions of participation in the photography contest.
- The University of Economics in Katowice is the contest organizer, with the Internationalization Office at the University of Economics in Katowice conducting the contest (hereinafter referred to as the "organizer"), ul.1 Maja 50, 40-287 Katowice.
- The contest is organized within the framework of the project "Feel good @UEKat – support for improving the psycho-physical condition of foreign students at UE Katowice" project.
- The "I feel good @ Katowice" photography contest is an initiative aimed at students, encouraging them to discover and document places in Katowice where they feel good. The aim of the contest is:
- promoting the city's local attractions and illustrating its diversity and appeal from the students' perspective, highlighting the places where they study, relax, get inspired, have fun and relax;
- supporting students' artistic expression and developing their creativity;
- developing interest and passion in photography,
- spreading and popularizing photography as an art form,
- creating an inspiring collection of photographs.
5. The contest will be conducted online.
6. The organizer undertakes to present the awarded and other selected works at an exhibition at the University of Economics in Katowice.
Contest duration

- The contest lasts from June 1, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to June 11, 2024, until 12:00 p.m. - deadline for submitting works.
- The contest will be resolved on June 17, 2024, by 12:00 p.m.
Participants

- Any person with the current status of a student of the University of Economics in Katowice, regardless of the mode and year of study, may be a participant in the contest (hereinafter referred to as the "participant").
- Only authors of the photographs may submit them.
- Only a person who has reached the age of majority may be a participant.
- Members of the jury are excluded from participation in the contest.
Contest rules

- Participants' task is to photograph places in Katowice that make them feel good, where they learn, rest, get inspired, play and relax.
- Places may include cultural venues, parks, cafes, streets, art galleries, reading rooms, public gathering places, etc.
- Specifications:
- photographs must be taken in the city of Katowice;
- each participant can submit a maximum of 3 photographs;
- photographs should be saved in JPEG format with a resolution of 300 dpi and a minimum size of 20x30 cm.
Work submission

- Photographs should be submitted via email to the following email address: welcome@uekat.pl.
- The application must include the photograph's title, a description of the place with a brief justification for its selection (max. 300 characters) and personal information: participant name, telephone number, country of origin, study program.
- As the contest is part of the "Feel good @UEKat - support for improving the psycho-physical condition of foreign students at UE Katowice" project, the prerequisite for taking part in the contest is to deliver a set of documents to Internationalization by June 11, 2024, i.e.:
- declaration on the protection of personal data of the project participant (GDPR) – NAWA, which is attached as Appendix No. 1;
- additional consent of the participant for the processing of personal data, which is attached as Appendix No. 2;
- declaration constituting Appendix No. 3.
An exception is made for individuals who have already participated in other activities conducted as part of the project and have completed the aforementioned documents.
Assessment and awards

- The evaluation of entries will be conducted by an independent jury appointed by the organizer, including:
- Edyta Lachowicz-Santos – Chair;
- Magdalena Skowron;
- Karolina Englisz;
- Piotr Pilarski;
- Tomasz Serwiak.
2. Photographs shall be assessed according to the following criteria: creativity, aesthetics, originality, quality, and relevance to the topic.
3. The jury shall choose the works awarded and selected for the post-competition exhibition.
4. The decisions of the jury are final.
5. The jury is not required to justify its decisions.
6. The authors of the works awarded (hereinafter referred to as "contest winners") and selected for the exhibition will be notified via e-mail to the e-mail address from which the photographs were sent to the contest.
7. Prizes will be awarded to the top three photographers.
8. The list of the contest winners will be announced on the University's website and social media during the exhibition.
9. Three instant cameras with film are provided for awards.
10.The value of the awards will not exceed the amount of PLN 2,000 per person.
11. In addition, certificates of participation in the contest will be awarded to all participants.
12. In case of substantive errors in the theme of the competition entry, the jury reserves the right to disqualify the work.
Awards distribution

- The prize will be presented during an official ceremony. The organizer will email the contest winner about the ceremony on the day of the results announcement.
- In case of inability to participate in the ceremony, the contest winner has the opportunity to collect the prize at the organizer's office (Welcome Point, room No. 112A, building A, ul. Bogucicka 3, 40-287 Katowice) until July 5, 2024, between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- The contest winner shall lose the right to the prize, which shall become the organizer's property, if they refuse to collect the prize or fail to collect it within the period specified in (2).
Use of works

- The organizers may use the submitted photographs for contest-related promotional purposes (e.g., on the website and social media).
- By entering the contest, the participant declares that:
- they are the author of the photograph;
- submitted photographs do not violate the rights and private property of any third party;
- they have all rights to it, including the permission of the persons depicted in it to use their appearance;
- they allow the organizer to make free public use of the submitted photographs by presenting them at organized exhibitions and on the organizer's website, as well as to label the works with the author's name and surname, program and year of study and the country of origin;
- they allow the organizer to use, reproduce, print and adapt the submitted photographs free of charge to present the awarded works.
Personal data of the participants

- The data provided by participants will be processed to conduct this contest and the "Feel good @UEKat – support for improving the psycho-physical condition of foreign students at UE Katowice" project, the contest being part of the project.
- To receive the prize, a participant must provide accurate personal information, such as their name, phone number, country of origin, and study program.
- By sending the application, participants declare that they are familiar with the relevant GDPR information clause of the University of Economics in Katowice, which is available on the University's website or in the Public Information Bulletin.
Copyrights

- By submitting a competition photograph, a participant declares that they own all and unlimited copyrights to the work and the photograph made, as well as is entitled to use the appearance of the person or persons depicted in the photograph, in addition to having the consent of these persons for the dissemination of their appearance as part of the contest and in materials made available to the public, including portals and websites.
- By participating in the contest, the participant simultaneously grants a free non-exclusive license to their contest work to the organizer (from the moment it is made available) without any limitations in terms of time, quantity and territory in the following terms of application:
- in terms of capturing and reproducing the work – uploading the work into computer memory and multimedia networks, including the Internet, internal networks of the Intranet type;
- in terms of marketing the original or copies on which the work was recorded – marketing;
- in terms of distributing the work – public performance, exhibition, display, reproduction, as well as broadcasting and re-broadcasting, making the work available to the public in such a way that everyone can have access to it at a place and time of their own choosing, including through electronic products, as part of multimedia networks, internal networks, the Internet and the online system.
Final provisions

- Participation in the contest is free and voluntary.
- Participation in the contest is equivalent to accepting the Rules and Regulations.
- The organizer reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the contest if necessary and as long as it does not affect the conditions of participation. This applies, in particular, to the changes to the deadlines of the individual contest activities and changes to the prize specifications.
- Any doubts concerning the contest rules, provisions of these Rules and Regulations and their interpretation shall be resolved by the organizer.
- At the moment of sending photographs, participants in the contest agree to the processing of their personal data for participation, resolution, announcement of the contest results, and publication of their data during the exhibitions of the awarded works.
- The organizer reserves the right to change the contest's Rules and Regulations without providing a reason.
- This contest is not a game of chance within the meaning of the Act of November 19, 2009, on Gambling Law (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2023, item 227).
- In all matters not regulated by these Rules and Regulations, decisions are made by the organizer.
