The Department of Energy Transition is part of the Faculty of Spatial Economy and Regional Transformation at the University of Economics in Katowice. For more than 30 years, the Faculty’s academic staff has been engaged in research, teaching, and expert activities focused on strategic and regional studies, as well as spatial and environmental economics.

The Department of Energy Transition brings together a team of lawyers and economists who combine legal and economic expertise in research on just transition and the development of the green economy. The Department’s academic and expert achievements are highly regarded both in Poland and internationally in the fields of energy transition, energy law, and climate policy. The Head and Founder of the Department is Professor Marzena Czarnecka, former Minister of Industry of Poland.

The primary mission of the newly established Department of Energy Transition is to conduct research and projects related to the transformation of economies and energy networks, the analysis of energy efficiency and energy security, the deployment of new energy sources, the use of modern technologies in energy transition, as well as the development of legal and managerial regulatory frameworks.
