First editon in Pavia
The inaugural edition of the Polish–Italian Intensive School on Energy Transition was successfully held at the University of Pavia between 23 and 25 May 2026 as part of the international educational initiative entitled “Powering a Just and Sustainable Future: The Energy Transition in Practice – Sustainability, Just Transition, Clean Energy and Nuclear Innovation.”
The programme was created and organised by Professor Katarzyna Gromek-Broc of the University of Pavia in cooperation with Dr Marcin Kraśniewski from the Department of Energy Transition at the University of Economics in Katowice. Thanks to Professor Gromek-Broc’s academic leadership, international experience and innovative educational approach, the School brought together students, academics and experts in a unique interdisciplinary learning environment devoted to the challenges of contemporary energy transition.
The first edition welcomed students from both the University of Economics in Katowice and the University of Pavia, representing a wide range of academic disciplines, including law, economics, political science and European studies. Participants took part in expert lectures, policy discussions, negotiation simulations and project presentations focused on energy transition, climate policy, energy security and sustainability.
