The Vision and Mission of the School
The Polish–Italian Intensive School on Energy Transition is an international educational initiative jointly organised by the University of Economics in Katowice and the University of Pavia. The School has been established as a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experience and best practices among students, academics, energy sector professionals, policymakers and representatives of international organisations.
Its mission is to foster a deeper understanding of the complex challenges associated with the global energy transition while equipping participants with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to contribute effectively to the transformation of contemporary energy systems.
The programme is designed to educate and inspire a new generation of future leaders capable of addressing the legal, economic, political and technological dimensions of energy transition. Through an interdisciplinary approach, participants explore the interactions between energy policy, climate governance, sustainable finance, energy security, technological innovation and regulatory frameworks.
Particular emphasis is placed on bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical experience. By combining expert-led lectures, case studies, policy debates, negotiation simulations and collaborative project work, the School enables participants to develop critical thinking, analytical skills and practical problem-solving capabilities within an international and multicultural environment.
The Polish–Italian Intensive School on Energy Transition responds directly to some of the most pressing challenges facing Europe and the wider international community. These include the implementation of the European Green Deal, the decarbonisation of national economies, the development of renewable energy sources, the growing role of nuclear energy, the strengthening of energy security and resilience, and the delivery of a just transition for regions historically dependent on fossil fuels.
By bringing together students and experts from different academic disciplines and national backgrounds, the School seeks to promote dialogue, innovation and international cooperation in support of a sustainable, secure and socially responsible energy future.
