Regulations for the provision of services based on Google Workspace for Education at the University of Economics in Katowice
The provision of the services set forth in these Regulations is directly connected with the Agreement for the use of Google Workspacefor Education concluded by the University of Economics in Katowice (hereinafter referred to as the University) with Google Inc., a corporation registered in Delaware with its registered office at 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, California 94043, USA (hereinafter referred to as Google). The provision of services is limited to the duration of the agreement.
Article 1
- Google Workspace services are provided on the basis of an account assigned to an end user, who may be:
- a student (a student of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle, a participant of postgraduate studies, a participant of courses and all other forms of education provided by the University of Economics in Katowice,
- a graduate,
- an employee
of the University of Economics in Katowice.
- All accounts will be created in uekat.pl domain or its subdomains.
- The account and related services are available only for the duration of the agreement.
- The account name for student and graduate will be created in accordance with the template: xxx.yyyy, where xxx is the first name of the student/graduate and yyyy is the surname of the student/graduate. If a name created according to this formula already exists, a digital identifier will also be used to create the name. In the case of typical Polish letters in the first name and surname, they will be replaced by Latin characters which are optically the closest to the letters. The account will be created in edu.uekat.pl subdomain. The University reserves the right to use another subdomain in justified cases.
- The account name for employee will be created in accordance with the template: xxx.yyyy where xxx is the first name of the employee and yyyy is the surname of the employee. If a name created according to this formula already exists, a middle name or digital identifier will be used to create the name. In the case of typical Polish letters in the first name and surname, they will be replaced by Latin characters which are optically the closest to the letters.
- The name of the additional account for end users performing specific tasks for the University will be determined in consultation with the Head of the IT Centre Network Department.
- Accounts for students will be created automatically, while accounts for graduates and employees will be created by submitting an application for the creation of an account in accordance with the procedure specified on the IT Centre website.
- Student accounts cannot be deleted at the request of the end-user.
- Graduate and staff accounts may be deleted at the request of the end-user in accordance with the procedure specified on the IT Centre website.
- A student account will become a graduate account of the same name after completion of the studies by the end user.
- The employee's account will be deleted if the employment relationship with the University is terminated. Employees are obliged to make copies of data important to them before the termination of their employment. Deletion of the user's account may not constitute grounds for a claim for damages or other claims against the University.
- Depending on the account status, which is directly related to the current relationship between the user and the University, Google may provide different sets of services with different scope. The sets of services and their scope may also vary during the term of the agreement, regardless of the account status. The University will use its best endeavours to ensure that the status of the account corresponds to the actual state of affairs, in particular the dean's office system.
- The University reserves the right to enable or disable the services available in the Google Workspace package in the main domain "uekat.pl" and all subdomains. Services may also be enabled or disabled by Google. Therefore, the User cannot claim compensation due to the unavailability of the service.
- The User has no right to claim damages or other claims, including the execution of any additional activities from the University in connection with termination of the agreement and termination of services resulting from it.
- The User may also be provided with Additional Services by Google, including paid services, which are not governed by the Agreement for the use of Google Workspace; they are governed solely by the specific terms of use of the Google service. The University is not liable for the actions of the user to obtain such services and the resulting obligations.
- The end user may purchase additional paid services for their needs, if such services are addressed to them by Google. The University will not be a party to the Agreement and will not be liable for any liabilities incurred by the end user.
- The University reserves the right to contact the user via the assigned account. In particular, a student account will be treated by the University as a basic account for communication with the user and as a basic account for the provision of other services provided by the University beyond this Agreement.
- Users with a different account status than student status may view advertisements on Google's website as part of the services provided in accordance with the Agreement. Therefore, the User may not demand that the display of advertisements be discontinued and may not demand any compensation for such advertising.
Article 2
- The University administers accounts through its IT Centre.
- In case of violation of the terms of use of services associated with the account, the University or Google has the right to suspend the user account, and in special cases, to delete the user account. The University has the right to delete a user account if the good name of the University is injured.
- The User may use the Services only for lawful, appropriate and consistent purposes in accordance with this Agreement and with any applicable policies and guidelines, including but not limited to those provided at the time of registration or obtaining access to the Services.
- The University may be able to access data provided by the end users in Additional Services and to monitor, use or disclose such data, and to disable end user accounts in these Additional Services. The University will inform the end users of its capacity to carry out these activities.
- Where applicable, with respect to the personal data of end users included in the Additional Services in the University domain, Google is the data processor and the University is the data controller.
- Google provides support services for end users exclusively through the Google Help Center, which is available at www.google.pl/support/ or at any other URL indicated by Google.
- The end user has the right to address any questions or complaints to the University, in particular to its IT Center.
Article 3
- In connection with the providing services specified in the Agreement and other services provided by the University based on an account in the uekat.pl domain, the University does not change the rules for creating official accounts for employees and the rules of their service specified in Order No. 78/08 as amended, in particular the obligation to send official correspondence to employees to e-mail addresses in the ue.katowice.pl domain, as well as to provide an e-mail address in the ue.katowice.pl domain as an official correspondence address.
- In connection with the provision and provision of services specified in the Agreement and other services provided by the University based on an account in the uekat.pl domain or its subdomains, as of 1 January 2015 the University will block all accounts in the ue.katowice.pl domain, whose end-users are students or graduates of the University except for the cases specified in section 3.
- In particularly justified cases, students and graduates of the University may additionally have an account at the ue.katowice.pl domain after 1 January 2015.
- The Regulations enter into force on the day of signing.
