About the project

The "Prof. Kelum Jayasinghe on scientific excellence: how to build and expand cooperation networks for green transition?" project allows us to invite a renowned scientist. The main reason for inviting Prof. Jayasinghe is his outstanding achievements in the field of research on green transition and sustainable development, as well as his experience in running centers of research excellence focused on the abovementioned topics. Prof. Jayasinghenot only represents a prestigious research center but also boasts numerous grant awards from leading global institutions. He conducts crucial and highly regarded research on regional transformation, investment in green technologies, and climate change.
The program of activities will create a space for dialogue and mentoring, aimed at supporting the Centers of Research Excellence established at the University. This will enable us to gain insights into running such centers, making them vital hubs for academic exchange and networking, while also positioning the University internationally in the field of research on transformation processes.
Cooperation with Prof. Jayasinghe is also justified by his area of interest and scientific and research activity. This applies to his outstanding research conducted in the areas of:
● Conditions for the effectiveness of transformation processes, including green transition, from the perspective of both developed economies (the UK) and developing countries (especially Southeast Asia)
● Development of a reporting framework for environmental issues (including climate change)
● Management support for the public sector, including the development of good governance practices in public institutions
Prof. Kelum Jayasinghe's scientific and research activities currently focus on topics relevant to our region (Silesia), namely the effectiveness of transformation processes, ESG implementation, and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The project was initiated and prepared by dr hab. Monika Wieczorek-Kosmala , prof. UE, with the support of Internationalization.
The project has been co-financed by the Metropolis GZM within the framework of the "Metropolitan Science and Education Support Fund" program. All activities planned for the project are scheduled to be implemented in 2025, and the total grant amount is PLN 35,541.00.
