About the project

The main goal of the "Cybersecurity in finance" project is to increase knowledge and awareness of cybersecurity in finance among Metropolis GZM economics students. The intended results will be achieved through close cooperation with Prof. Vladlena Benson, a renowned cybersecurity and artificial intelligence expert.
This project is relevant for several reasons:
- 42% of respondents say they have once experienced an attempted financial crime, and it was successful in the case of 7% of respondents (data from SW Research's "Cyberdojrzali" commissioned by Bank Pocztowy);
- the unlimited number of transactions made each day and the constant circulation of vast amounts of cash make the financial services sector an extremely tempting target for any cybercriminals;
- cybersecurity is currently a top priority for many financial institutions, especially banks. Today, it is a more significant concern for banks than credit risk (report by E&Y and the Institute of International Finance).
Consequently, economics/finance students should be aware of cyber threats in the financial area and know how to prevent their effects.
The second goal is to increase the scientific research level of our University academic staff in research workshop refinement and scientific work internationalization (opportunities to establish scientific and research cooperation). Prof. Vladlena Benson's scheduled activities will achieve this goal for multiple vital aspects of conducting scientific work. Professor Benson will conduct workshops and provide consultations supporting cooperation with our University faculty members carrying out research projects (mentoring support).
The project is coordinated by dr hab. Bożena Frączek, prof. UE. It is part of the cluster project "Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity in Finance" carried out by Prof. Frączek who is implementing the project with the support of Internationalization.
The project has been co-financed by the Metropolis GZM within the framework of the "Metropolitan Science and Education Support Fund" program for the years 2022-2024 in the amount of PLN 35,046.00.
Project implementation period: March – November 2024.
