About the project

The "Metropolis GZM in the age of technological revolution: mapping the conditions and directions of the development of the gaming sector" project aims to support the implementation of scientific research by young scientists by co-funding the acquisition of empirical data and disseminating research results nationally and internationally. Activities include an in-depth study of the gaming sector, one of the most innovative sectors in the Metropolis GZM. The project consists of the following:

  • investigation of the perception of the development opportunities of the gaming sector in the Metropolis GZM as seen by innovative, technological companies in the region;
  • mapping of the cooperation network of these companies with the city, academia and the labor market;
  • investigation of the readiness of university students in the region to work in the gaming sector of Metropolis GZM.

This research task will be carried out by mgr Kacper Zagała, mgr Paulina Badura and mgr Rafał Rydzewski and involves the following activities:

  1. literature review on the subject matter covered by the research task (national and international);
  2. outline of an original research study to map the conditions and development trends of the gaming sector in the Metropolis GMZ – a separate survey for companies, and students (the future of the labor market);
  3. preparation and analysis of statistical data collected as part of the ongoing research task;
  4. presentation of research results at prestigious national and international scientific conferences;
  5. preparation of a scientific paper presenting the results of the research.

The project is research-oriented and part of a broader effort to develop the discipline of the Economics of Climate Change and the expert image of our University in this field. It proposes original pioneering research and will help identify the situation in the Metropolis GZM in terms of residents' attitudes or companies' plans (for example, raising their awareness, which will support the achievement of climate neutrality goals). The project will also produce results that can help the innovativeness of companies operating in the region, especially in strengthening the effectiveness of activities in the process of green transformation.

The project is coordinated by dr hab. Monika Wieczorek-Kosmala, prof. UE. It is part of the "ECOnomics4Climate II" cluster, which is being implemented by Prof. Wieczorek-Kosmala, with support from Internationalization.

The project has been co-financed by the Metropolis GZM within the framework of the "Metropolitan Science and Education Support Fund" program for the years 2022-2024 in the amount of PLN 31,275.00.

Project implementation period: February – November 2024.
