About the project

The aim of the "Understanding Green Finance: Prof. Johannes Jager" project is to increase the scientific potential and research activity of our University's academic staff in areas related to the just transition, which is part of the project's main theme. Within its framework, our guest and co-author of a book of the same title will present the opportunities and risks associated with the green transition.

Professor Johannes Jager's impact on our University's activities is multifaceted and goes well beyond the direct benefits of knowledge transfer and research output. In addition to research activities, the visit will impact the teaching process. Through guest lectures, seminars, and workshops, Professor Jager will share his knowledge not only with our students of Finance and Accounting but also with students of the University of Silesia (Institute of Political Science).

Our guest's stay will be an excellent opportunity to involve Professor Jager in the Faculty's Greening Energy Markets and Finance project, which will enable both work on joint publications and direct discussion of new projects thanks to Professor Jager's experience. As part of the research, it is planned to provide substantive support based on Professor Jager's experience of just transition and green finance in various countries of the Global South (e.g. Brazil, Chile, Argentina) with the implementation of the idea of sustainable finance (e.g. Canada, the United States). A joint work on a scientific paper is also planned, as well as the inclusion of our guest, together with Professor Ismail Erturk and Professor Thomas Walker, in the "Mathematical, statistical and econometric methods in sustainable finance" study conducted at the Faculty of Finance..

The project was initiated and prepared by dr hab. Ewa Dziwok, prof. UE, with the support of Internationalization.

The project has been co-financed by the Metropolis GZM within the framework of the "Metropolitan Science and Education Support Fund" program for the years 2022-2024. All planned activities will be carried out in 2024. The total value of the project is PLN 53,757.00.
