Financial support

Scholarship

A student/doctoral student qualified to participate in BIP may receive a scholarship for a maximum of 5 days of stay and days allocated for travel, provided that it takes place on days other than those of the mobility.  The amount of funding for students qualified for short-term mobility as part of BIP, regardless of the destination country, is EUR 79/day for stays lasting from 5 to 14 days. For stays lasting from 15 to 30 days, this rate is EUR 56 per day. In exceptional and justified cases, funding may be granted for a maximum of 2 additional days.

Inclusion support

Students/doctoral students who meet the criteria specified in the definition of "people with fewer opportunities" (holding a certificate of disability and/or receiving a social scholarship at the time of qualification for the mobility) are entitled to a top-one amount of EUR 100 regardless of the destination country.

Travel co-financing

  • Support for travel costs

Students/doctoral students are entitled to a lump sum to cover travel costs. The lump sum depends on the distance between the place of departure (i.e., the location of the sending institution - Katowice) and the destination (i.e., the location of the receiving institution), and the choice of means of transport.

The distance of a single journey should be considered to calculate the lump sum for a return journey. To calculate the distance, International Programs unit shall use the European Commission's distance calculator available on the Erasmus+ website: ec.europa.eu/programmes/erasmus-plus/tools/distance_en.htm. For trips up to 499 km, participants should use low-emission means of transport.

Standard travel – travel by plane, ship (boat, ferry), car, motorcycle.

"Green travel" refers to travel by sustainable (low-emission) means of transport, such as bus, train, or carpooling (a form of public transport where passengers share a car with at least two people traveling to the same destination). Green travel is not an option granted to the participant automatically. Students apply to the International Programs unit for recognition of the trip as green travel by submitting a Travel Declaration before departure (a declaration template is available in the "Documents to download" section). At the mobility settlement students need to provide documents confirming the use of ecological means of transport during the round-trip.

  • Additional individual support for travel days

Students/doctoral students travelling by standard means of transport shall be granted an additional lump sum for a maximum of 2 days for round-trip , provided that the trip takes place on the days other than the beginning and the end of the BIP.

Students/doctoral students traveling by sustainable (low-emission) means of transport shall be granted an additional lump sum for a maximum of 4 days for round- trip, depending on the documented number of travel days and according to the following ranges: 10 - 499 km: lump sum for up to 2 days of travel; 500 - 3999 km: lump sum for up to 4 days of travel.

Scholarship payment

The scholarship is paid in two installments:

  • 1st installment allocated for days of stay and a lump sum for travel expenses according to the provisions of the agreement
  • 2nd installment allocated for the additional individual support for travel days according to the provisions of the agreement

Mobility capital

The Erasmus+ program enables students and doctoral students to undertake multiple mobility for studies and internships, with a mobility capital of 12 months at each level of study. Mobility for studies and internships accumulates and cannot exceed 12 months.

Students participating in the foreign study mobility or internship cannot simultaneously participate in BIP.
