The primary purpose of this textbook is to introduce fundamental concepts in international economics, and to explain basic mechanisms underlying the international trade and monetary issues. It is intended mostly for students of International Business program at the University of Economics in Katowice, taking courses in International Economics I (during the 1st year of bachelor degree studies) and International Economics II (during the 1st year of master degree studies). Both courses comprise of 14 hours of lectures and 28 hours of classes. This textbook does not require extensive foreknowledge of economics. Many topics in this textbook are presented in a simplified or a stylized way, because International Business program at the University of Economics in Katowice does not include courses in microeconomics nor macroeconomics. Nevertheless, each part introduces a model (i.e. the neoclassical trade model in Part I and the IS-LM-BP model in Part II) to promote analytical thinking among students. Besides, each chapter includes a case study illustrating discussed material.
