LIUC Library International Staff Training Week in Italy, 11-15 May 2026

We are pleased to invite you to the 3rd edition LIUC International Library Staff Training Week!

The Week will take place from 11th until 15th May at Università Carlo Cattaneo – LIUC (Castellanza-Milan, Italy).

Libraries face challenges every day in an increasingly technologically advanced global world.

Through information literacy education and a focus on the needs of students and teaching and research faculty, libraries can be perceived as a vital and dynamic service within the landscape of university life.

During our library staff training week we will work together comparing our activities to engage faculty and students in a learning library and share best practices about core subject fields such as: social reading in academic libraries, information literacy education and reference services, research repository, reading lists management, collection management, library management system (Clarivate Exlibris-ALMA, Esploro, Leganto), management in libraries, the role of AI in education.

You will also discover our industrial archeology landscape, as the Mario Rostoni Library and LIUC University are part of an ancient cotton mill based in the Olona Valley, Milan. You will also visit with us Milan libraries and museums with their treasures of the past, to discover Italian culture from monuments to traditional food. From LIUC University it is easy to visit Milan, Como and Varese.

The “Mario Rostoni Library International Staff Training at LIUC University” is designed for academic librarians aiming at having a holistic vision of academic libraries.

In order to have a real international group, we will limit the participation to this week to 1 or 2 participants per country as a maximum. The group will be composed by 8 up to a maximum of 15 participants, so hurry up to secure your place! Please register yourself using this registration form not later than 31st January 2026.

If you come from one of our partner universities within the Erasmus+ programme, you can ask for funding to the International Office of your University. The Erasmus+ funds for staff training will cover travel, meals and accommodation expenses.

Accommodation and lunches will be charged to the participants.

There are many possible accommodations like B&B or hotels.

   When you book you can mention that you are a LIUC professor to have a discount
3. Otherwise, you can check the Airbnb or Booking websites, where you can find other accommodation options very close to the university.
